Pretty Little Purchases

My latest purchase... a pair of espadrilles. I thought they were rather cute. I got mine in h&m for £6.99 which seemed like quite a bargain! They sell them in near enough every shop in every colour and pattern this season and are perfect for the summer weather. I must also add they are extremely comfortable. can't wait to wear them on holiday with a tan...

Made To Measure

As the young fashion lovers we are, its no suprise that we study Textiles at school. For our GCSE coursework we were able to make anything of our choice as long as it fitted with our design brief. As similar as we both are we chose the same design brief which was that our garments would have to be worn at a special occasion. It also had to show some sort of influence from another culture such as the colours, spirit and pattern. The culture we both chose to base our designs around was the country, England because we really love all the floral prints, patterns and colours.

Constantia: So in the end, my dress was a 50's style, above the knee length dress. I made my dress backless with only a bow at the back that ties up.  I beaded the entire neckline to make the flowers and leaves stand out, which took countless days and nights, staying up til 2 in the morning! But in the end it was definately worth the time. I am really proud of the dress i made and i think all the hard work paid off..

Lucy: I decided to make a simple dress with a classic neckline and elasticated waistband. I wanted to make a long dress as i had made a shorter dress previously so the search began for an elegant fabric that would drape nicely. When i saw the fabric, which i would probably descibe as indigo, i knew it would be right for the design. I used free hand emboidery to add flowers to the bodice but kept the skirt simple.

Colour Blocks&Chunky Knits

So summer is finally here but English weather is so unpredictable! Colour blocking is big this season so i felt pretty on trend when i stepped out wearing a navy blue skirt and rusty coloured long sleeve jersey. The weather wasn't quite warm enough to sport a vest top but when the sun is beaming i definately will. I'd say wear colours that work to compliment your complexion and hair colour. By all means wear yellows, oranges, greens and bright shades-but thats just not me. Another one of my personal summer essentials is a chunky knit cardigain. Whether you are rocking jeans, shorts, leggins, a skirt or dress, a chunky knit in a pale shade will work with anything. It's perfect to put over an outfit when the sunshine turns to wind or just to keep warm. They really can be worn all year round, you can't go wrong. I'd say its well worth the money and is guaranteed not to go out of fashion.

S 4 SUMMER

With the sun finally beginning to shine ..we think its definately time to pull out your Summer clothes! We couldn't be more excited for this summer! There are so many different styles and trends perfect for the sunshine but you can't go wrong with the classic cut off shorts and bright top! We're loving the new 50's tie front shirts which go perfectly with any outfit, whether its with skinny jeans, shorts or with a skirt. You can find them in literally any shop, but the one we've chosen to share is from Topshop, priced at £24, which is extremely reasonable. We've also noticed that bold prints are making a wave on the high street. H&M specifically are doing some amazing bright, summery tops, priced from £7.99; with these sort of prices, it's hard to resist the cheeky little bargain. We will definately be heading down to H&M to buy a few.
So lets just say, Be Bright to start your summer with a Bang!

'It's a new generation of party people...'

As you know it's a tradition to have a prom at the end of year 11. However, more glamorous than most, ours was on a boat. Imagine the oscars.... but 16 year olds. I'm sure everyone remembers the build up to the party and the excitement of choosing the preferct dress, shoes and accessories. People were rocking different styles and lets just say, everyone looked amazing. One thing we can say for sure, Wedges are gonna big for summer 2011...treat yourself. Here are some of our favourites of the night...
